Who are the staff at EcoWeeks?

EcoWeeks are staffed entirely by volunteers.

• Assistants lead groups of 4 - 8 children. They are carefully checked (including CRB checks) and then undertake appropriate preparation and training with us. Many have worked with children before, often with scouts, guides, woodcraft folk and other organisations. We make sure they have the skills needed to keep a group of children safe and happy and start building a repertoire of activities.

• The EcoWeek Directors have many years experience of residential holidays for children, at CAT, Hagg Farm or elsewhere. They take overall responsibility for 'their' EcoWeek.

• We may have a Kitchen Supremo (someone with experience of cooking for larger numbers) who does some of the cooking and guides teams of children in the rest. Cooking (and an appreciation of what is needed to cook) is an essential part of an EcoWeek!

• There are no domestic staff. All members of the EcoWeek community, children and adults, share tasks like washing up and cleaning.

Working for EcoWeeks

• Join in as an EcoWeek Volunteer - We are always on the lookout for keen volunteers to work at EcoWeeks - there are various roles available: Assistant, Kitchen Supremo, First Aider and Specialists. In all cases you will need a current Disclosure Scotland or CRB (England and Wales) check. There is more information about working for EcoWeeks here
