Escorted travel by train is available from Birmingham New Street
station (for CAT) and from Manchester Piccadilly Station and Sheffield (for The Foundry Centre). In each case we will have a team of volunteers in place from around 12 noon until around 2pm (exact times will be confirmed when the summer timetable is published) who can collect children from their parents or meet them off trains if they travel unaccompanied. The whole group will then travel by train to Machynlleth (for CAT) or Hope (for Hagg Farm). On the return our volunteers will again be available to hand children over or put them on trains from around 12pm
until around 2pm.
There is no charge for the escort if parents buy tickets to Machynlleth or Hope. If we buy the tickets the cost will be £12.50 per child for either return journey.
For The Venture Centre, on the Isle on Man, escorted travel will be on the 11.15 ferry from Liverpool, arriving back at 18.45 the following Saturday. Supervised hostel accommodation in Liverpool will be available at cost for those who would prefer to travel home on Sunday morning due to the late scheduling. Further details will be provided upon enquiry.
On the whole we would rather that children didn't travel by car to EcoWeeks, because
we like public transport! However, you are welcome to deliver and/or collect children
by car if it is more convenient for you. We can send directions for getting to CAT and Hagg Farm: please aim to deliver children between 4pm and 5pm
on the first day and collect them between 9am and 10am on the last day.
